We believe in protected horticulture

Today, vegetable cultivation has become increasingly important in human nutrition and this importance is constantly growing. Horticulture (intended therefore for human nutrition) will have to:

Support a growing increase in production to guarantee food supplies to a constantly growing world population.

Deal with environmental problems that, due to climate change, upset the logistics of production causing massive increases in prices to the consumer.

Reduce the massive use of pesticides and fertilizers that in addition to impoverishing the soil, compromise the quality of the final product as well as polluting the environment.

A valid response to these issues is horticulture in a protected environment such as that of the modern greenhouses built in the last 10 years, where in addition to a very moderate use of chemical elements there is also optimized management of water, another element that is not abundant on our planet; here, in fact, cultivation takes place out of soil.

Lighting is obviously essential for vegetative growth, whether solar or artificially supplied using the latest generation LED lamps. These, optimised for each type of crop, in the spectrum and arrangement (whether in rows or open field) and for the cultivation latitude, allow results in terms of harvest but above all quality.

A lamp with a high percentage of RED LEDs stimulates the formation of carotenoids that give, for example, tomato, colour and flavour.

A lamp with a higher percentage of white LEDs (compared to RED) stimulates the growth of the green parts of the plant, foliage, stem; therefore perfect for flowers and herbaceous crops.

LUXLED has developed highly efficient projectors capable of optimising energy consumption without sacrificing performance in terms of harvest and product quality.
